Students will mix together a few ingredients to form ooblek. Ooblek can act as a solid when you touch it with force, and act as a liquid when you touch it softly. If a penny or heavy small toy is placed in the ooblek, it will sink in. With this fun, hands-on activity, students will be able to visualize how it looked when Korach was swallowed into the ground for rebelling against Moshe. This parsha teaches that jealousy is a very bad middah (character trait), and Korach was punished for it.
Students will demonstrate how Korach and his people were swallowed up into the ground when they rebelled against Moshe. They will exhibit an understanding that Korach was jealous of Aharon and Moshe which caused him to sin in many ways. The students will experiment with the ooblek and demonstrate the difference between solids and liquids.
