Discovering That Fat Insulates
The Torah mandates that the fat surrounding the inner organs of animals be separated from the rest of the meat and be burned on the mizbeach. Your students will discover with this hands-on (or hands-in) experiment that fat insulates the animal’s organs from cold. Using shortening and a zipper lock baggie the children will experience how the cold will not penetrate through the fat.
