Use this banner to introduce Amos Hanavi’s cry (Amos 3:6), “If a shofar is sounded in the city, will the nation not tremble?” in connection to the Yemei Ratzon. Just as the shofar is sounded to alert and prepare citizens when enemies are approaching, so too is the shofar sounded in Elul to alert us to prepare for the Yamim Noraim. Students can brainstorm other signals and their calls to action (fire alarms, smoke detectors, tornado sirens, etc.) to help them internalize this concept as they prepare for the Yamim Noraim.
