So many of the parshah stories involve travel in the desert. It is likely that few of your students have ever visited or experienced the conditions in a real desert. By creating this theme station in your classroom, your students can explore the desert through a variety of activities and the stories in the parshios will suddenly be within their realm of experience.
Your students will compare different sets of plants and animals and sort them into categories of desert plants and animals and non-desert plants and animals. Through exploration of the desert theme station in your classroom, your students will experience desert conditions and better absorb the parshah stories.
