Experiencing Hot and Cold Conditions in the Desert in Parshas Lech Lecha

Traveling through the desert can be tough! The desert is a place of extremes! It’s extremely dry, extremely remote, extremely hot and at night it can even be extremely cold (especially in the winter). It can be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and the temperatures can drop to 32 degrees at night. Through this imaginative lesson, your students will pretend to experience the desert climate, making your parshah lessons within their realm of experience.
Your students will sort items of clothing (or pictures of clothing ) into groups based on their seasonal uses. They will employ dramatic play to pretend to experience extreme temperatures.
Skills Needed:
focus on task, ability to follow instructions, sorting and classifying, fine motor skills
Eight items of each hot and cold weather clothing or Pictures of clothing cut out of store fliers or catalogs
Attached graph to sort clothing pictures (optional)
