Have your students create their own rock that gives forth water, just like Miriam’s rock in Parshas Chukas. They will build it using a technique called papier-mâché. Using the rock, students will play a game that teaches them how to follow directions and treat people and things gently.
Students will demonstrate how the rock gave water to Bnei Yisrael in the midbar. They will exhibit an understanding of the story of Parshas Chukas and how Moshe did not follow Hashem’s directions when he hit the rock instead of talking to it. Moshe was punished for his sin, and he lost the privilege of leading Bnei Yisrael into Eretz Yisrael.
