The parshah tells us about the completion of the mishkan and all its components. The shulchan, one of the furnishings of the mishkan, bore the 12 loaves of lechem hapanim. These loaves miraculously remained warm and fresh even though they sat out all week. In this observational science lesson, the children will learn what would normally happen to fresh bread that is left to sit for a week and appreciate the nes of the lechem hapanim.
The students will observe pita bread for a week and describe the changes they notice. They will connect this experience to the parshah which teaches about the lechem hapanim which remained fresh all week.
Skills Needed:
focus on task, ability to follow instructions, fine motor skills, comparison skills
A few pieces of fresh pita bread (yeast free pita, if you can get it, would work well in this lesson)
Magnifying glass (optional but adds a scientific dimension to the lesson)
