פרשת וישלח

עם לבן גרתי | בראשית ל"ב, ה'

I have sojourned with Lovon

Rashi explains that the letters גרתי can be rearranged to spell תרי'ג – which alludes to the 613 mizvos that Yaakov kept in the house of Lovon.

The question asked by many meforshim is why did Yaakov feel it important to inform Eisav that he had kept all the mizvos in the house of Lovon?

HaGoan Rav Moshe Feinstein zt”l suggests that the underlying message Yaakov wishes to convey was that although Yaakov wished to reconcile with Eisav, he wanted to make it very clear that he was not going to comprise his performance of mizvos to achieve this goal.
